British Chevening Scholarship Programme The British Council, 17 Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi 110001 (Ph 2371 1401, 2371 0555, Website: britishcouncil.org.in/scholarship) offers over 120 scholarships for Indians to study in the UK . The British High Commission and the British Council in India invite applications from qualified Indians for the award of the prestigious Chevening scholarships funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the UK government.
Scheme A: Long Term (open) Scholarships: Applicable for one year postgraduate (master's) study at any UK university.

Scheme B: Short Term (Professional): Applicable for working professionals to attend tailor made courses of up to three ? months in the UK .

Scheme C: Long Term (Shared or Joint): Applicable for one year postgraduate (mater's) study at specific UK universities. Age of the applicant must be between 25 and 35 years. Besides having a meritorious academic background, it is expected that the applicant should have leadership qualities, and proven willingness and ability to make his or her contribution to the socio ? economic development of his or her country.
British Chevening Scholarships comprise the following:
Commonwealth Scholarship / Fellowship Plan This is an annual scheme made available to all commonwealth countries by the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission. Development for international Development (DFID) and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) provide the funding for the scheme. Commonwealth scholarship and fellowship are also offered for Masters or Doctoral or Post Doctoral degree. The Indian programme is jointly managed by the Association of Commonwealth Universities in the UK , the Ministry of HRD of Govt. of India, the UGC and the British Council. Scholarships can be won in areas of medicine, technology, pure and applied sciences, agriculture and allied fields, humanities and social sciences
